Why A Wheel-A-Thon?

The Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living (IVCIL) Wheel-A-Thon supports the efforts of IVCIL. IVCIL's mission is to promote an accessible society that allows and expects full participation by people with disabilities. Your support allows IVCIL to continue promoting Independent Living in your community…the right of people with disabilities to:
- Have the same range of choices as everyone else in housing, transportation, education, and employment;
- Participate in the social, economic, and political life of their community;
- Unfold their potential.
Why Not Organize a Team?
The Team Challenge promotes friendly competition between businesses and organizations whose employees/members participate on their behalf. Here's how it works.
- Recruit one or more team(s) comprised of up to four wheelers/walkers who share a wheelchair and work together to raise funds for the Wheel-A-Thon.
- Choose a team name and Team Captain for each team who will serve as a liaison to IVCIL staff and lead your team to success.
Your team will compete against other teams for a “bragging rights” plaque. For more information or to register a team, call 815-224-3126 V/TTY.
It's Easy to Participate
If you haven't yet, register today!
You may register online by going to Wheel-A-Thon Participant Registration Form. You may also mail your completed registration form to IVCIL, 18 Gunia Drive, LaSalle, IL 61301 or call 815-224-3126 V/TTY.
Raise sponsors. Ask your family, friends and co-workers…start with yourself! Use this form to record and collect your sponsors' contributions. Turn in your sponsors on or before June 7th or send them to IVCIL by June 6th.
Complete an approximate 1-mile course using a wheelchair. Feel free to share a chair with your friends or team or even just walk. If you're going to wheel, bring gloves to prevent blisters. We want this experience to be positive, not painful!

Airport Road (Chartres Street) in Peru
The event will be held, rain or shine.
- Benefit IVCIL.
- Help increase disability awareness and raise important funds for IVCIL.
- After wheeling, enjoy a complimentary picnic and learn the Wheel-A-Thon's results and award winners.
- Participants raising $25 or more receive a Wheel-A-Thon t-shirt.
