Training our Personal Assistants

All personal assistants placed on the registry will receive a Personal Assistant Manual and will attend a two to three-hour training session on how to be a personal assistant.  At the training, a number of different aspects will be discussed, including:

  • Confidentiality
  • Personal Assistant Characteristics: dependability, reliability, trust, and compassion
  • The Employer-Employee Relationship
  • Universal Safety Precautions & Bloodborne Pathogens: to protect themselves and their employer
  • Ergonomics
  • Information on Various Disabilities
  • The Home Service Plan, the Division of Rehabilitation Services, & any paperwork involved with pay through this agency
  • The Job Description, Duties, and Responsibilities of a Personal Assistant
